Lucretia N. Young (nee Mills)

June 26, 1837 - April 7, 1928

Lucretia (nee Mills) Young was born in Madison County, New York; a daughter of Coral and Clarice (nee Spencer) Mills.[i]  In 1864, she and her first husband, Nelson H. Young, moved from New York State to Forest Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.  The 1870 Federal Census for Forest Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin lists Lucretia Young living with her husband, Nelson, and three sons: Corral, Otis and EdwinIn 1877 they moved from Fond du Lac County to York Township and were therefore, early pioneers of York Township.  The 1880 Federal Census shows a Lucretia Young living in York Township with her husband N.H. and five sons, Corral, Otis, Edwin, Irvin and Waldo.  Likewise, the 1880 plat map of York Township shows a N. Young owning forty acres of land in Section 4.  Nelson H. Young died unexpectedly in 1885 after accidentally drinking some poison.  On January 1, 1888 Lucretia Young then married Alanson Mabie.  Alanson Mabie died in 1910.  In 1928, Lucretia Young died in Ellendale, North Dakota.  It is believed that Lucretia and Nelson Young are both buried at York Center Cemetery although the exact locations are unknown.  Lucretia Young was a grandmother to Alice (nee Young) Benedict.
