Flossie (nee Davis) Schmidtke was the daughter of Gordon and Viola (nee Brown) Davis.  In turn, her father was the son of Hosea Whiston and Nancy (nee Bowman) Davis, who were early settlers of Fremont Township.  The Davis family was originally from St. Lawrence County in New York and came to Clark County, Wisconsin in the 19th century to settle in the Fremont, Grant and York Township areas.   With that in mind, Hosea Whiston Davis was also a brother to Solon Davis, an early settler of York Township and father to Mariah (nee Davis) Mortimer.  He was also a brother to Theodore W. Davis, an early settler of Grant Township and father to Kearney Davis, who was the barber in Granton for many years.

Flossie's mother, Viola, was a sister to Jessie Brown, the wife of William Vandeberg, a half-brother to both John and Abram Vandeberg who settled in the York Township area.

She married Otto Schmidtke on June 22, 1930.  Otto and Flossie Schmidtke farmed for many years on their farm located on Romadka Road in Section 14 of York Township.

Other relatives to Flossie Schmidtke that are buried at York Center Cemetery include her husband, Otto Schmidtke, her aunt, Jessie (nee Brown) Vandeberg and her first cousin (once removed), Mariah (nee Davis) Mortimer.
