Ella Graves

April 5, 1859 - March 8, 1934

Ella (nee Schell) Graves was the wife of Hubert Graves.  The Hubert Graves family came to York Township from Calumet County in 1901.  She was a sister to Lillie Lavey’s mother and therefore was Lillie Lavey’s aunt and likewise, Glenn Lavey’s grand aunt.  She was also a sister to Emma Bolton, who with her husband Sam Bolton, were early settlers of York Township.  Per a 1906 plat map, the Graves originally owned a farm in Section 15 that was later owned by the Hubings.  Afterwards, the Hubert Graves lived for many years in Section 21 in the brick house located on the east side of County Highway K about a mile north of County Highway C, the same house where her grand-nephew, Glenn Lavey and his wife, Elizabeth, also lived for many years.  Ethel and Dwight Graves were Ella’s daughter and son.[cemeteries/footer_gif.html]
