Bass, Emma (Moore) (*23 Oct. 1857 - 5 Nov. 1923)

Mrs. Emma Bass of this village passed away a the Luther Hospital on Monday evening at five-thirty o’clock. Mrs. Bass suffered from a shock some two weeks ago which caused her removal to the hospital. Physicians could do nothing for her. A complication of diseases set in and death claimed her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday.

PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Emma Bass, a pioneer resident of Curtiss passed away at the Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, November 5, 1923. Death came after an illness extending over three years. Her later illness lasting over eight weeks.

Deceased was born October 25, 1957 at Onalaska, Wis. In 1881, she was united in marriage to Albert D. Bass at La Crosse, Wis. They came directly to Curtiss where Mr. Bass went into the lumber business. For a number of years, Mrs. Bass has made her residence in the Village of Curtiss, Wis.

The deceased leaves to mourn her loss a sister, Mrs. Pearl (Henry) Himmel of Rockaway, N.Y., a brother Frank Moore and wife of Ingram, Wis., four nieces namely: Emma Odegard, Margarett Iverson, Mildred Moore and Anna Kipp of Ingram, a nephew Charles Block of Minneapolis and Milford and Franklin Himmel of Rockaway, N.Y.

Funeral services were held last Thursday November the 8th at her late home in the village of Curtiss, Wis. Burial was make in the Colby cemetery, Rev. Bowers preaching the sermon. The floral offerings were many from her host of friends and relatives.
