Willard Yesterday & Today

Willard, Clark Co. Wisconsin (May 14, 1917)

L>R: A. Trunkel, Mr. Jordan, Mr. Rester, F. Perovsek, Ignac Cesnik, and J. Zallar.

The photo postcard above was taken in downtown Willard, WI. The auto pictured is a 1914 Dodge..  Frank Kobal apparently sent this card to his mother to let her know he'd arrived in Willard.  The penmanship on the back of the card is extremely difficult to read and was written in  Slovene, but Frank was definitely the author.   The building behind the auto is the land office once used by Ignac Cesnik, the land agent for the Foster railroad which owned the cutover land in the area. This structure was brought to Willard on a flat car from Fairchild.  It is presently owned by Avis Suda and leased from them by the Slovenian Club of Willard. It has since been restored to pretty much the same condition as it was when this photo was taken. (details provided by: Frank Pakiz)
