Granton High School has selected the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2016.

Danielle Anding is the valedictorian.  During her high school career, she has been involved in National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council, BLAST and FFA.  She is treasurer of the senior class.

Anding also participated in athletics, including volleyball, softball, track and basketball.  She has been a member of the basketball program since the fifth grade.

Along with being active in clubs and extracurricular activities, Anding has been able to maintain high honors throughout her high school career, helping her achieve the accomplishment of being valedictorian.

“While I do enjoy the busy life school gives me, I do love having down time with my family members, including both immediate and relatives, spending time with my dog and exploring life in general,” Anding said.  “I can’t wait for my future to begin.”She is the daughter of Curtis and Chris Anding.

 

Cassondra Bandt

Cassondra Bandt

Cassondra Bandt is the salutatorian.  Bandt participated in many extra and co-curricular activities during her high school career, including Varsity Club, Spanish Club, basketball, and FFA.

Through FFA, Bandt has volunteered for PALS and Feed My Starving Children projects.  She is vice president of the senior class.

Bandt has remained on the high honor roll throughout high school.  She is currently Granton Fall Festival Queen.

She is the daughter of Dwayne and Michelle Bandt. 

The Granton High School Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Fieldhouse at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 28.  Seventeen members of the Class of 2016 will received their diplomas.

Various presenters will award scholarships.  The graduates will be introduced by district principal Rhonda Opelt.  Granton School Board member John Richmond will present diplomas.  District administrator Charles Buckel will present valedictorian and salutatorian awards.

Recognition will be given to NHS members Michael Meddaugh, Jessica Richmond, Sheryl Sebesta, Jessica Stamp and Danielle Anding.

Emily VerKilen and Michael Meddaugh will present class memories.  Montana Elmhorst and Sheryl Sebesta will lead the tassel turning.

The orange rose is the class flower.  The class colors are silver and orange.

The class motto is “Around here we don’t look backwards for very long; we keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things because we’re curious……and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” - Walt Disney.

The class song is “I Was Here” by Beyoncé.  Paige Vandeberg will coordinate the Class of 2016 video.  The Granton High School Band, under the direction of Amanda Kraus, will play processional and recessional selections, with special participation by alumni band members.

The award-winning choir will present “Another Bridge to Cross” under the direction of Amanda Kraus.

Class advisors are Lisa Larson and Cheryl Steinbach.  Class officers are: Emily Verkilen, president; Cassondra Bandt, vice president; Paige Vandeberg, secretary; and Danielle Anding, treasurer.
