2007 Salutes all around in County Board Room

The Clark County Board of Supervisors last week joined in an enthusiastic theme of patriotism, duty and giving the men and women in military service their due. Army Master Sgt. Steven Gilboy (above left), just back from Iraq, returned with two flags which he presented to county Veterans Service Officer Don Lander, a token of appreciation for the 200 flags that had previously been sent to Iraq to boost troop morale.  Gilboy received a standing ovation from county board members who also applauded the dedication of Administrative Secretary Marcia Ziegler (photo below), honored with a plaque for the “can-do attitude” she brings to the Veterans Service Office.  She was part of the county team, Lander said in his annual report that has had more than $80 million in well-deserved benefits coming the way of Clark County veterans in the 10 years that he has been VSO.  Much of that success has been due to the unwavering support of the County Board, Lander said.
