Helen Kuhlmann
June
29, 1895 - August 23, 1895
Helen
Kuhlmann was a niece to Fred Kier and is buried in
the same lot as Fred, Donald and Wera
(nee Edens) Kier.The
Clark County records show that an infant daughter of Carl and Wilhelmina
Kuhlmann was born at Hein, York Township on June 29, 1895.
The same infant daughter died on August 23, 1895 and was buried at York
Center. The birth records of this
child indicated that Carl Kuhlmann was a laborer and that he and his wife were
born in Mecklenburg, Germany.
A
Kuhlman family history
indicates that Helen was the daughter of Charles August Kuhlman and Wilhelmina (aka
Minnie) Kier. Minnie Kier was a
sister to Fred Kier, who was an earlier settler of York Township.
Minnie and Fred’s father was Henry Kueher who eventually changed the
name from Kueher to Kier. Both Charles Kuhlman and Minnie Kier were born in
Mecklenburg, Germany and came with their families to Brillion, Wisconsin.
They were married at Brillion. Sometime
after their marriage, they came to Clark County where Charles worked for the
John Hein Lumber Company. The
Kuhlmans moved from Clark County to Tony, Wisconsin after the lumber company
relocated there.
