Immanuel Church of Christ, Greenwood to Observe 100 Anniversary

The two worship services, Sunday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., a noon barbecue lunch and an afternoon of reminiscing at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood, are the culmination of three years of planning to observe the 100th anniversary of the church.

Included in the morning service will be the recognition of confirmation classes and former and guest ministers and their families. Special guests who are expected to be present for recognition are Mr. and Mrs. John Klingeberger Jr., Crown Point, Ind., son of Rev. and Mrs. John Klingeberger, Mrs. Alice Egbert. Abilene, Kansas, wife of Rev. Orval Egbert, Rev. and Mrs. Charles Koch, Sheboygan; Mrs. Otto Vriesen, Norwood, Minn., Mr. Kenneth Vriesen, Milwaukee; Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Siebert and family, Mineral Point, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Franzmeier and family, Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Franzmeier and family, LaFayette, Ind., both sons of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Franzmeier. Also included in the morning service will be a centennial message, “The Echoes of 100 years” delivered by Dr. Ralph P. Ley, Wisconsin Conference President.

The afternoon centennial Hymn Sing will feature a brief history of the church, read by Mrs. Elmer Humke, centennial chairman, a centennial message, “A Church Under the Cross” by Rev. James M. Savides, Northwest Wisconsin Association Minister, and numerous hymns, anthems, and scripture readings.
