The Abbotsford board of education will discuss a proposed half million dollar
high school building program at the regular Parent-Teachers Association meeting
Wednesday, January 27, at the high school gymnasium.
The planned site would be on 18 acres of land north of the athletic park, which
would be donated to the district by jack Nikolay.
The board will also discuss the potential school district reorganization of the
area, according to Herbert Juneau, principal of the Abbotsford schools.
The discussion will be held after the 8 p.m. meeting, and is expected to begin
about 8:45 p.m. Everyone is urged to attend, and the discussion will be open for
questions, Mr. Juneau said.
The proposed building program will be submitted to the voters in referendum. The
date has not yet been set, but will probably be this spring.
If the program is approved by the voters of the district, the building would be
built in two phases. An academic section, costing about $225,000 would be built
first, Mr. Juneau said, and the rest of the building costing an additional
$225,000 would be added later.
The first portion of the building would include five class rooms and science and
chemistry laboratories on the first floor; an art room, commercial room, study
hall, library and home economics rooms, including rooms for cook and sewing
classes.
