Retired Minister Dies at Age 89

Rev. Longenecker Rites to Be Monday

Neillsville - Word was received here this morning of the death of the Rev. George W. Longenecker, 89, a former pastor of the Neillsville Congregational Church. His death occurred this morning in Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the Schmidt Bartelt Funeral Home at 3555 W. Vliet street in Milwaukee.

The Rev. Mr. Longenecker, who left Neillsville five years ago, was born in Lancaster County, Pa., Oct. 30 1861.

His marriage took place at Mich., Aug. 5, 1891. He and his wife came to Neillsville in 1897. After serving as pastor of the Congregational Church for eight years, he and his wife and their four children went to Berthold, N. Dak., and several years later to Provo, Utah.

In 1912 the family returned to Neillsville and then moved to Viola, returning again to Neillsville in 1916.

The four children are Mrs. Gladys Edwards, Mrs. Ray (Lois) Ort, and William and Ernest Longenecker.
