Jacob C. Staab (22 Oct 1909 - 9 Mar 2003)

Jacob C. “Jake” Staab, 93, of the town of Hammel died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation in Medford.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in the town of Holway. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. today at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

He was born Oct. 22, 1909, in Dorchester to Valentine and Clara (Marquardt) Staab. He married Helen I. Rickaby on Oct. 7, 1938, in Dorchester and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1985. The couple farmed in Hammel. Mr. Staab was a self-employed electrician in the Medford area and operated a vacation farm in Hammel.

He is survived by three daughters, Gail (Roger) Alger of Thorp, Marlys (Pat) McNamar of Mount Crested Butte, Colo., Claire (Steve) Malchow of Hammel; three sons, Kurt (Denise) Staab and Kent Staab, both of Hammel, and Roger (Chris) Staab of Bismarck, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; and his brother, Milton (Nell) Staab of Stewartville, Minn.
