Jepsen, Eugene Douglas (16 July 1929 – 28 January 2019)

Eugene Jepsen, age 89, of Neillsville, died Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Eugene Douglas Jepsen was born on July 16, 1929 in Pray, the son of Holger and Martha (Petersen) Jepsen. After finishing his schooling, he joined the United States Army and served in Japan during WWII. After returning from the war, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Bartz on September 17, 1949 in Neillsville. He owned and operated several stores one of which was Gene’s TV and Appliance. He was also well-known for his beautiful work restoring furniture.

Gene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Neillsville. He was also a member of Neillsville’s Masonic Lodge and the Lion’s Club of which he served as past president. Gene loved all animals especially dogs of all types.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, four children, Steve (Barb) Jepsen of Hatfield, Dan Jepsen of Withee, Mark Jepsen of Eau Claire, and Deb (Greg Filipczak) Jepsen of Neillsville, five grandchildren: Erik, Heath, Torben, Karsten and Britta (Dustin).

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

A Memorial Service for Gene will be held at a later date.
