Donald W. Schumacher (11 Dec 1932 - 6 Feb 2003)

Donald W. Schumacher, 70, Eau Claire, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at his home.

Mr. Schumacher was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Dorchester, the son of Nick and Hattie Schumacher. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School and attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.

His marriage to Carol Erickson, who survives, took place on July 5, 1954, in Dorchester. The couple moved to Eau Claire two years later.

Mr. Schumacher joined the Army National Guard in 1951, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose for 37 years. He was elected governor of that organization, and attained the Pilgrim Degree. He also enjoyed playing cards, polka music, sports, woodworking and travelling.

Besides his wife, Mr. Schumacher is survived by five sons, Kerry (Shari) Schumacher, Woodbury, Minn., Kevin (Jill) Schumacher, Eau Claire, Kent (Sharon) Schumacher, Clearwater, Minn., Keith Schumacher, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Kyle (Kris) Schumacher, Maple Grove, Minn.; one daughter, Julie (Clayton) Browne, Oakdale, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Celine Zirngibl, Stetsonville, and Janet (John) Pinter, Dorchester; and one brother, Norbert (Mary) Schumacher, Marathon.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Stokes & Mundt Funeral Chapel, Altoona. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra presided.
