Frank D. Potocnik (23 Sept 1907 - 23 Feb 1998)
Frank Dennis Potocnik, 90, Curtiss, died Monday, Feb. 23, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen where he had resided for three days. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Maurina Funeral Home in Owen with Rev. Bruce Jahnke officiating.
Burial was held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Holway. Pallbearers were Jerry, Arlin, Todd, Dennis, and Tony Potocnik and Rick, William and Tim Skutak.
Frank D. Potocnik was born September 23, 1907, in Kansas to Joseph and Anna Potocnik, Sr. He received his education in the Forest Grove School in the Town of Holway. His marriage to Ethel Moreau took place on June 4, 1936, in Medford.
He and his wife farmed in the Town of Holway until selling the farm to their son in 1967. He had also worked at Hurd Millwork in Medford, the former Post Company in Owen, and the former Freeport Silo Company in Withee. He enjoyed music and played the accordion and concertina in the “Jolly Nighthawks” band for weddings, barn raisings, school functions and tavern dances throughout the area.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel, a resident at the Clark County Health Care Center; three sons, Jerry (Gloria) of Owen, Dennis (Janet) of Medford and Arlin (Duila) Potocnik of Crossville, Tenn.; a daughter, Donna (William) Skutak of Mosinee; three brothers, William, Tony and Edward (Bernice) Potocnik, all of Owen; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Frank Jr.; two sisters, Anna Friedenfels and Alice Fritz; one grandson, Scott Potocnik; and one great-grandson, Jacob Potocnik.
