Orlean C. Pope (14 Mar 1920 - 13 Jun 2002)

Orlean C. Pope, 82, of Medford died on Tuesday, June 13 in the emergency room of Memorial Health Center in Medford.  Funeral services will be Friday, June 21 at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester with Rev. Robert Everhard officiating.  Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday at the Peace United Church of Christ from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

The former Orlean Kreie was born on March 14, 1920, in the Town of Deer Creek to the late Adolph and Laura (Keil) Kreie.  She was a graduate of Medford High School. 

Her marriage to Ray Pope, who preceded her in death in May of 1961, took place on June 10, 1939.  They farmed in the Town of Holton, Marathon County, until his death.  She remained on the farm until 1967, until moving to the Dorchester and Medford areas. 

She was employed with Merten’s Garage in Medford as a secretary and bookkeeper and later at H & H Motors of Medford.  She was employed as a caregiver at Walter’s Adult Care in Curtiss until her death. She was a member of Homemakers, a youth leader for 4-H and Farmers Union, and a volunteer for Hope Hospice at Medford Memorial Hospital.  She enjoyed gardening and traveling. 

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Miller of Stetsonville and Mary Gehrke of Dorchester; one son, Dennis (Grace) of Stetsonville; three sisters, Evelyn Ehrenreich and Amy Rauscher, both of Medford, and Marjorie (Clyde) Knipple of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wyona Pope; one grandson, Jamie Gehrke; and one brother Elmer.
