 Dorothy E. Stasek (24 Jul 1911 – 19 Jan 2002)

Dorothy E. Stasek, 90, of Owen, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002 at the Colonial Center in Colby where she had resided since November of 2001.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Owen.  Rev. Guy Usher III will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

Pallbearers will be Darwin Laabs, Joshua Stumpner, Doug Zimmer, Bob Prock, Ron Stasek and Paul Stasek.  Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Silampa and Mark Stasek.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen.  There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.

Dorothy Emma Roohr was born on July 24, 1911, in the town of Beaver, rural Loyal, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Wisnosky) Roohr.  She was a graduate of Unity High School.  Dorothy and Paul Stasek were united in marriage on Feb. 6, 1932, in Stevens Point.  They worked the family farm in the town of Hoard from 1940 to 1946, later moving to Owen.  A homemaker, Dorothy assisted her husband in the operation of the Owen Theatre from 1946 to 1949, and from 1957 to 1959, Stasek Chevrolet, both in Owen.

Dorothy was a member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild; and also a member of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint, and especially, her flowers and gardening.

She will be dearly missed by her family, two daughters, Gaymond Laabs of Shawano and Shirley Ewert of Owen; two sons, Paul Stasek of Owen and Ronald (Lois) Stasek of Malvern, Ark.; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stasek, on March 24, 1974; and her sister, Alyce Burhop, on May 13, 1999.
