Zelda Marie Geiger (10 Feb 1927 – 3 Apr 1999)
Zelda Marie Geiger, 72, of Dorchester, died Saturday, April 3, at Colonial Center in Colby where she had resided for two years. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 7, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester with Rev. John Malik officiating.
Burial took place in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Grandchildren served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Visitation and a parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service were held at Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester.
The former Zelda Marie Marvin was born February 10, 1927, in Viroqua to Henry and Leola (Stertsbery) Marvin. Her marriage to Sylvester Geiger took place June 3, 1946, at St. Louis Catholic Church.
She and her husband farmed the Geiger family farm in the Town of Mayville, retiring in 1988. She also baby-sat her grandchildren and the neighbor’s children. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading and craft painting.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and St. Monica’s Circle.
Survivors include two sons, Edward and Kenneth (fiancée Pam Brecke) Geiger both of Dorchester; four daughters, June Geiger of Owen, Sharon (Kerry Gadke) Geiger of Granton, and Sandy and Donna Geiger, both of Dorchester; two brothers, Robert Marvin of Elroy and DuWayne (Gin) Stertsbery of Madison; a sister, Eleanor Olson of Elroy; a special friend, Marie Geiger of Dorchester; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sylvester on December 4, 1991.
