Cyril Decker (24 Apr 1924 – 3 Nov 2001)

Cyril Decker, 77, Dorchester, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Mr. Decker was born April 24, 1924, in the town of Mayville, the son of Theodore and Josephine (Britton) Decker. His marriage to Adeline Stoiber took place on Oct. 16, 1944, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester.

He resided on the family farm in rural Dorchester all his life. He was also employed as manager of the fertilizer plant at the Dorchester Co-op, retiring in 1986.

Mr. Decker was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the Dorchester Co-op board, and the Taylor Electric Co-op board. He enjoyed hunting, bird watching, fishing and gardening.

Survivors besides his wife include six sons, Ronald (Carolyn), Jim (Sandy), Dan (Mary), Bill (Diane), Gary (Kim), and Chuck (Kim) Decker, all of Dorchester; four daughters, Pat (Ronnie) Gebert, Joanne (Cliff) Garcynski, Doreen (John) Johnson, and Mary Ellen (Dave) Erl, all of Dorchester; two sisters, Veronica Carlboro, Dorchester; and Leone Donahue, Omaha, Neb.; 34 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

The Funeral Mass was held Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. Father James Schaefer presided. Burial was held in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
