Lencz, Frank (27 OCT 1919 - 12 JAN 2019)

Frank Lencz, 99 formerly of Gilman, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the WI Veteran’s Home-Chippewa Falls.

He was born on October 27, 1919 in Lublin to the late Steve and Mary (Paraczak) Lencz. Frank grew up in the Lublin area and graduated from Gilman High in 1938. He then moved to Chicago to work in a slaughter house. Frank married Mary Kowalczyk on November 27, 1941in Chicago.

Frank then entered the Army and served in the Army during WWII. He was wounded in battle in the Philippines. After the war he and Mary had a farm for 4 years before moving to Gilman where Frank worked for the post office as a rural letter carrier for 63 years.

Frank was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Gilman American Legion, the Gilman Lions Club, the Community Betterment Association and was a Boy Scout leader for over 50 years.

He survived by his wife of 77 years, Mary of Chippewa Falls, his children, Steven (Eileen) Lencz of Maplewood, MO, Alexis (David) Goebel of Gilman, Jennifer (Jerry) Mallo of Waukesha and Peggy (Earl) Hinkel of Stanley, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren, his brother John (Toni) Lencz of Stanley and his sister, Ella Welgos of Thorp.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Michael, Harry and Daniel, his sister Theodosia “Teddy” Burzynski, a grandson, Michael Goebel and 2 great grandchildren, Cassaundra Hinkel and Jackson Komanec.

A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Philip Juza officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 7:30 PM Rosary and also Friday morning from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church.
