Mildred Ann Dernovsek, 95, of Sheldon, entered eternity after a very peaceful and happy death on Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.

She was born on March 9, 1923 in Ladysmith to Anton and Frances (Karnik) Pospisil. She married Felix Dernovsek in Ladysmith on Feb. 12, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2009.

Mildred graduated from Tony High School and worked at the Gerard Hotel in Ladysmith and Chevrolet Motors in Minneapolis and also at a toy factory in Ladysmith. She enjoyed the simple life of being a faithful wife and mother on the family dairy farm and keeping up the household chores until the very end. She enjoyed harvesting fresh produce from the family garden to feed her family. She liked cooking, canning and picking berries. She loved watching the birds, especially her favorites; the Bald Eagles, which she named Ernie and Elsie. She loved her family, children and grandchildren and loved going on Sunday rides with them which she did up to four days before she died.

She was a very humble, devout Catholic who always put the Catholic faith and her family and friends first. She lived according to the maxims of the Gospel and not according to the world. She enjoyed and looked forward to going to church and praying, especially the Rosary and Angelus.

She is survived by her five sons, Theodore and William, both of Sheldon, Albert (Linda) and David (Jean), both of Conrath, and Matthew (Wendy) of Hudson; and her six daughters, Barbara of Wausau, Theresa (Steve) Barstow of Dresser, Catherine of Stevens Point, Victoria of Andover, Minn., Joyce (Joseph) Gambino of St. Mary's, Kan. and Mary of Sauk Centre, Minn. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and her sister, Marie Haller of Glen Flora. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Felix, and her three brothers, Henry, Raymond and Anthony Pospisil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. John's Catholic Church in Sheldon with Fr. Madanu Lourdu Raju and Fr. Gerard Wilger concelebrating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
