Junior Kiwanian Winegarden Named (December. - 2018)

November Junior Kiwanian

Rayle Winegarden

Rayle Winegarden, a senior at Neillsville High School, has been announced as the November Junior Kiwanian of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club.

Winegarden was introduced at the Nov. 5 Kiwanis Club meeting. She is the daughter of Linda and Mark Winegarden. She participated in the club’s Monday meetings throughout the month.

Winegarden is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society, has had straight-A’s, has been on honor roll and has received academic letters. Her school-related activities include the Spanish, book, creative writing, fine arts and history clubs, and concert choir. She is also on student council and has served as a class officer.

“Rayle also has excelled at solo and ensemble and performed in the school musical ‘My Fair lady,’” Brent Shoup of the Kiwanis Club wrote in a press release.

Winegarden is job shadowing in a first-grade classroom for experience enroute to her goal of being an elementary school teacher.

Winegarden is also active in volunteering, including in United Special Sportsman Alliance, an organization that sends disabled and inner-city children, terminally ill and veterans’ children, on outdoor adventures. Winegarden has served as kayak instructor for the participants.

Other volunteering activities include fundraising for a fellow student’s Eagle Scout project, assisting with a cancer benefit and for Empty Bowls event. In addition to her numerous activities, Winegarden is employed part-time at Subway.

Following graduation in May, Winegarden intends to pursue a major in elementary education and minor in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She is on track to enter college with 18 credits.
