Manney, Dorothy Marie (Frodl) (2 MAY 1935 - 3 OCT 2018)

The Lord called home Dorothy Marie Manney on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at her home in Altoona, Wisconsin.

Dorothy was born May 2, 1935, in Sherry, Wisconsin to Emma and John Frodl. The family moved to Stratford, Wisconsin, where she graduated high school. She married her husband of nearly 60 years, Gregory Elliott Manney on May 12, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratford.

For those fortunate to have known Dorothy, they knew a person of an incredibly strong work ethic, the highest integrity, immeasurable loyalty, and a true sense of humor. As much as she loved the Brewers and Packers, Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors even more. She would spend hours on end watching birds, fishing, or cruising through the woods with her sister.

Dorothy grew up during a period with economic difficulty. This difficulty taught her to not focus on material possessions focusing instead on the wealth of love she acquired with her brothers and sisters. To see that group together, you were witness to something amazing, an indestructible bond. Dorothy transferred that familial bond to her children, who remain close as well.

As strong as Dorothy felt towards her family, the people who needed the most help were her primary focus. She never walked away from anybody needing help. Many rosaries were worn out as she prayed for those who were in need. For somebody considering herself a simple lady, Dorothy’s lessons were life-altering, yet simple: say what you do, do what you say, and when wrong, apologize.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Donald (Charlotte) Frodl, Frances Leick, Rosemary (Rich) Haigh, Phyllis Frodl, and Jerry (Nancy) Frodl; in-laws Diedre and Dan Mueller; her children Rae Ann (Greggory) Ottinger of Mondovi, Terri Lyn Manney of Trenton, Ohio, Dean Gregory (Ann) Manney of Altoona, and David John (Kimberly) Manney of Mosinee; her grandchildren, Kayce (Mark) Lawcewicz, Cole (Jessica) Planert, Michael (Kristen) McSorley Sr., Nicholas McSorley, Monique Manney, Tia Anderson, Zachary Manney, Meghan (Justin) Long, Alyssa Manney, and Brynn Manney; great-grandchildren Michael Jr., Amelia, Eliza, Kenzie, Jax, Luca, Isaac, Iyan, and Owen, and her many friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Gregory, her parents, Emma and John, her sister-in-law Cynthia Santerre, and brothers-in-law Dennis Radke, Jon Santerre, and Gilbert Leick.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on October 9, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1812 Lynn Ave, Altoona WI. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire, WI.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
