Krug, George A. (30 OCT 1932 - 11 SEP 2018)

George A. Krug, 85, of Stetsonville, passed away on Tuesday, Sept, 11, 2018 at Aspirus Medford Hospital where he had been a patient for the past five days.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in the town of Holway with Pastor Amy Heinz officiating. Visitation will take place at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 and also on Saturday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Holway, where there will be graveside military rites performed by the Stetsonville American Legion.

Honorary pallbearers will be his seven grandchildren.

George was born on Oct. 30, 1932 in the township of Holway to the late Ethel Jane (Stephens) and Andrew Krug. He attended town of Holway elementary schools. On Aug. 9, 1958 he married Lorraine L. Neitzel at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in the town of Holway and she preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2016.

After his education he worked on the family farm in the town of Holway until he entered the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his service he worked at Medford Fur Foods, Payne and Dolan road construction, McQuad Masonary, Brunner Well Drilling, did logging work and retired from McGivern Masonary. He played baseball for Holway and softball for John and Alice’s Bar in the town of Maplehurst. He recently went on the Honor Flight with his twin brother, Bill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pontooning and in his younger days, motorcycling. George was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in the town of Holway, Stetsonville American Legion and a charter member of the Pine Creek Riders

George is survived by his children, Dianne (Lynn) Jochimsen of Medford, Dawn (Jerry) Brink of Medford and Gary (Sara) Krug of Rice Lake; seven grandchildren, Justin (Shannon) Brink and Jenna Brink, all of Madison, Ashley Kuprin of Menomonie, Andrew (Courtney) Krug of Auburndale, Logan Jochimsen of Big Falls, Minn., Courtney Krug of Oshkosh and Garret (Paige) Krug of Cameron; six great-grandchildren, Corey, Amelia, Theodore, Hailey, Brycen and Stella; siblings, Beatrice (Virgil) Decker of Unity, twin brother, William “Bill” (Gayle) Krug and Darlene Wisniewski, all of Owen, Annabelle Neitzel of Holway, Dale Krug of Marshfield, Jane (Gordon) Mathews of Medford and Jerry (Susie) Krug of Perkinstown.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Krug and by George’s pet chihuahua, Lila.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in George’s name to either Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Holway or the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in Wausau.
