Vanderhyden, Wilfred G. (6 MAR 1894 – 8 JUL 1971)

Wilfred G. Vanderhyden, 77, died Thursday, July 8, 1971, at Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, with burial in the parish cemetery.. Reverend Francis Brockman performed the services. Military service were performed at the grave side.

He was born March 6, 1894 at Hollandtown, Wisconsin. He has been a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and vicinity most of his life, moving here with his parents when he was five years old. He was well known in this community, after being in business for many years. He retired twelve years ago, after being in the Pure Oil business, Chevrolet dealer, and a distributor for Leinenkugel brewery. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118, a charter member of Emer-Quiann Council of Knights of Columbus at Stanley, St. Vincent's Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Holy Name Society.

In 1920 he married the former Deva Moe. Three children were born to this union, Murvil, Dorothy, and Wilferd E.. She died in 1929. In 1933 he married his present wife, Margaret Micke.

He leaves to mourn, his wife; two sons, Wilfred E. of Thorp, and Richard of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Dorothy) Carlson of West Allis, and Mrs. Jack (Ann) Geving of New Richmond; and nineteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Murvil, one daughter, Maisie, and three sons who died in infancy.

Pallbearers were Cyril Alger, Ed Alger, Jerry Micke, Tom Culbert, Leon Burkhardt, and Roger Benzschawel.
