Sommer, Ruth Ann (Johnson) (13 JUL 1939 - 26 AUG 2018)

Ruth Ann Sommer, 79, Holcombe, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at her home.

Ruth Ann was born the daughter of Walter and Lorinda (Laabs) Johnson, July 13, 1939, in Chippewa. She was raised in Holcombe, where she graduated from the Holcombe High School.
She was united in marriage to Bruce A. Sommer in Milwaukee, and together, they had seven children. Ruth Ann was proud to be a homemaker and enjoyed staying home to raise her seven children. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. Ruth was an avid Packers fan, and loved cheering on her green and gold.

She is survived by her children – Chris (Caroline) Sommer, Eau Claire, Sheryl Gerberding, Chippewa Falls, Jon Sommer, Holcombe, Erik (Peggy) Sommer, Texas, Deane Sommer, Cadott, Dann Sommer, Cadott, and Bekki (Jason) Schofield, Cornell; a sister – Dona Taipala; grandchildren – Heather Knox, Amanda Sommer, Leslie, Bryce and Trey Gerberding, Char (Brandon) Ash, A.J. Sommer, Josh and Derika Sommer, Samanntha and Dyllon Sommer, and Zak and Brett Schofield; and great-grandchildren – Tryston and Ariana Ash, Sylvia Jepperson, Carter and Cecelia Schofield; and special friend – Judy Palusynski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband – Bruce; and two grandchildren in infancy.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, with Pastor Andy Schottelkorb officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m., until the time of service Friday, at the church.
