Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Christ Lutheran Church, Chili, for a Town of Fremont native, Paul Schmidtke, 76, of Union Center, who died February 27 at a La Crosse hospital. The Rev. Everett Schleef officiated, and interment followed in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Arrangements were made by the Picha Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

His first wife, the former Anna Krueger, preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife, the former Hazel Zimmerman.
