Beard, Ella Mae (Pratt) (5 JAN 1920 - 20 JUN 2018)

Ella Mae Beard, 98, of Park Falls, formerly of Westboro, died on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. A private service will be held at a later date.

Ella was born on Jan. 5, 1920 in Tampico, Ill., the daughter of the late Ralph and Hilda (Olsen) Pratt. Her early life and schooling were in Illinois. Ella worked as a welder during WWII doing her part for the war effort. She married Ivan Keith Beard and he preceded her in death in 1994.

She lived for 30 years in Illinois, for 30 years in Westboro and for 30 years in California before coming to Park Falls in 2014. She was a school cook and a cook at a nursing home. Ella was a member of the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries, the Westboro Homemakers and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Ella is survived by five children, Beverly (Virgil) Lueth of Spring Valley, Bernie (Nancy) Beard of Park Falls, Doug (Sharon) Beard of Weslaco, Texas, Gary (Jeannette) Beard of Hortonville and Larry (Machell) Beard of Sullivan, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Plautz of Zebulon, N.C.; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her husband Ivan; infant son, Kenneth; granddaughter, Carrie Beard; brother, Everett Pratt; and two sisters, Alice Blackert and Edna Knight.

The Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls is assisting the family.
