Hirsch, Leo James (18 MAY 1924 - 7 JUN 2018)

Leo James Hirsch, age 94, formerly of Medford and longtime resident of Park Ridge, IL passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held starting at 9:30 am prior to the funeral at the church. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI.

Leo James (Jim) was born on May 18, 1924, son of James Leo and Theresia (Brost) Hirsch in Medford, Wisconsin. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School and Medford High School. Leo was united in marriage to Lorraine Milewski on June 28, 1952 in Chicago, IL. His career at Greyhound Lines, Inc. spanned 42 years while raising his family of five in Park Ridge, IL.

He exemplified the true meaning of the phrase “putting your nose to the grindstone. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 60 years and he enjoyed gardening and volunteering at church throughout his adult life.

Leo is survived by his five children Connie (Mike) Schubert, James (Polly) Hirsch, Gerald Hirsch, Thomas (Amy) Hirsch, and Debra (Herb) LaMee, fourteen (14) grandchildren, and eight (8) great-grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings Marguerite (Ray) Klingbeil and Patrick Hirsch, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine (Milewski), and five siblings: Marilyn Strassman, Peter, Mark, Eileen Handel, and John.
