Manthey, Brenda Lee (13 January 1949 – 13 February 2018)

Bernda Lee Manthey, 69, of Merrillan passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Black River Memorial Hospital.

Brenda was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Neillsville to Roy and Genevieve (Butterfield) Eddy.

Brenda married Jerry “Frog” Manthey Nov. 3, 1973, at the Merrillan United Methodist Church. Jerry preceded her in death Sept. 1, 2015.

Through the years, Brenda held various jobs. She received her degree as a registered nurse and operated a community based residential facility in Black River Falls for over 16 years.
She and Jerry operated BJ’s Café in Merrillan for several years, and she was a cook at the Depot Bar & Grill in Merrillan and at the casino.

Brenda was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #140 in Merrillan. She enjoyed camping, playing cards with her mother and sisters and especially spending time with her grandsons.

Brenda is survived by her children: Joshua (Brenda) Manthey of Fort Atkinson and Jodi (Marty) Kalina of Humbird; mother Genevieve of Merrillan; two sisters, Pam (Randy) Brown of Merrillan and Kathy Zimmerman of Merrillan; eight grandsons: Austan, Dalton, Trey, Jacob, Zach, Josh, Gavin and Eli. She is also survived, by her grand dog Moose.

In addition to her husband Jerry, she was preceded in death by her father, Roy, and two brothers, Rick and Jeff Eddy.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home in Hixton. Rev. Terry Marg will be officiating.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home Saturday.
