Hinker, Shawn Joseph (3 March 1971 – 13 May 2018)

Shawn Joseph Hinker age 47, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer.

Shawn was born on March 3, 1971, in Neillsville, to Eugene C. and Marilyn J. (Loos) Hinker. He was raised in Loyal and graduated from Loyal High School in 1989. After graduation he earned an associate degree in Wood Technics at CVTC, in Eau Claire. On November 8, 1997, he was united in marriage to his love, Lisa Murphy at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.

Shawn held many positions throughout his life, most recently he was employed at Northside Elevator in Loyal. Shawn was one of the most driven individuals, which led to playing many roles. He enjoyed farming and construction work, was always willing to lend a hand for a neighbor or a friend and treasured all relationships he developed with who all he worked with.

His fun loving and adventurous personality led us on many adventures through the years. Shawn treasured time spent with family and friends while hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, boating and camping over the years. All of the memories created made for the best storytelling around the campfire. His pride and joy were his children followed closely by his Harley. Memories made on the open road with friends and his wife and daughter are some he held close to his heart. Shawn’s love of adventure led him to some of his proudest accomplishments which include running two marathons, a mini-triathlon, white water rafting, skydiving, zip lining, barefoot skiing across lakes, winning a good bean bag game along with just about anything else you could challenge him to do.

He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife: Lisa Hinker of Greenwood; children: Brett Hinker of Scottsdale Arizona, Hannah Hinker of Greenwood; his parents: Gene and Marilyn Hinker of Loyal; his siblings: Sheila (Lance) Batchelor of Owen, Steve (Beth) Hinker of De Pere, Greg (Jennifer) Hinker of Delano, MN; nieces and nephew: Kassie and Kenadi Batchelor, Annie and Bob Hinker, Emerson and Madison Hinker. He is further survived, by a father-in-law, William “Stoney” Stone; brother-in-law, Christopher (Christina) Murphy, many aunts, uncles, cousins and his dearest friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Dianna Stone.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Greenwood, with Fr. Charles Hiebl officiating. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:30 until time of service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
