Ziegler, John Gerald (7 March 1936 – 8 March 2018) With Flag

John Ziegler, age 82, of Neillsville, WI died Tuesday, March 8, 2018 at the Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

John Gerald Ziegler was born on March 7, 1936 in Milwaukee, the son of Dr. Cletus and Elsie (Smaile) Ziegler. He attended school until the 10th grade and then enlisted into the United States Navy. He served four years, two of which he served in Japan as an aviation mechanic. After his honorable discharge, John worked several jobs in Milwaukee, including 25 years as a truck driver for the VA Hospital in Milwaukee. After retiring, John moved to Siren, for ten years and in 2008 to Neillsville.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Neillsville. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his survived by a brother, R. Tim (Christine) Ziegler of Neillsville, three sisters, Margaret Weiss of Waukesha, Elsa (Mike) Burke of Rhinelander, and Elizabeth “Twink” Kroening of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James, William and Thomas and three sisters, Jane, Catherine and Kenna.

A Memorial Service for John will be held in Milwaukee at a later date.
