Fisher, Martin "Mike" John (19 AUG 1907 – 6 OCT 1973)

Martin "Mike" John Fisher, 66, of R. 2, Spencer, died at his cottage at Lake Namakagon on October 6, 1973 at 6:45 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with burial in the Veefkind Cemetery. Rev. Wm. H. Ruhbusch officiated.

Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, had charge of arrangements.

Martin Fisher was born in the Town of Sherman (Clark Co., Wis.) on August 19, 1907. He was married on October 22, 1930, to Amanda Giloy, who survives him.

He farmed in the Town of Sherman, and worked part-time as an electrician and insurance agent.. He retired in 1967. He was Assessor for the Town of Sherman for nine years, and was Town Clerk for 28 years. He was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, at the present time, and held other offices at various times.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Everett (Betty) Smith, R. 2, Spencer; one son, Jon Fisher, R. 2, Spencer; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Wilber and Eldon Fisher, both of Wisconsin Rapids; and one sister, Mrs. Hulda Darves, Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mrs. Arnold Stelzel was the organist at the funeral services, with the congregation singing hymns, "I Fall Asleep in Jesus' Wounds" and "For Me to Live is Jesus."

Pallbearers were Randy Reynolds, Albert Niewaki, Howard, Schultz, William Rahm, John Kurz, and Harvey Mews.
