Brahmer, Francis “Bud” (20 MAY 1928 - 28 APR 2018)

Francis “Bud” Brahmer, 99, of Lodi, WI passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his residence in the Town of Lodi, under the loving care of his family and Agrace Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford, where there will also be graveside military rites performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.

Visitation will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, May 5.

Pallbearers are Ric Murray, Niko Brahmer, Adam Yanish, Bob Anderson, Jerry & Butch Roiger

Bud was born on November 8, 1918 at Milwaukee, WI, to Frank and Elizabeth (Weber) Brahmer. He attended Phillips schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.

During July of 1957, he married Gertrude “Gert” Lehner, at Phillips.

After his education, he worked at the Medford A. & P. Store. Then he entered the US Army and was a veteran of WW II having served as a Staff Sgt. In the Army Corps of Engineers in Italy, Southern France, Rhine, Central Europe and Africa. He received a Silver Star, Purple Heart and numerous other military awards.

After the service, he took over his father’s bar in Medford and ran it as Bud’s Bar until he met the love of his life, Gert, at which time it became Bud & Gert’s Bar. A true love story began then & continued for over 60 years. Bud also worked as a bricklayer & mason foreman until his retirement in 1982. In retirement, he picked up woodworking as a hobby and made beautiful furniture for his family. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, snowmobiling & sports all while having a cold one with friends & family. Above all, Bud was a loving husband & father. You are so deeply loved & will be greatly missed…Husband, Father, Friend, Hero – Until our next 10 to 10.

Bud was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; Life member of the Medford VFW; Medford American Legion; 50 year membership award of Mason & Bricklayers Union; Past member of the Medford Volunteer Fire Department

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude “Gert” Brahmer of Lodi; children Denny (Joan) Brahmer, Rick (Gwen) Brahmer, Kris Baker, Jim (Barbara) Barton, John (Judy) Barton & Mary Zimmermann; grandchildren Ric, Niko, Hayat, Julia, Grant, Lily, Liz & Bob; and several great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his canine companion, Toby and friends to numerous to mention.

He is predeceased by his parents; son-in-law: Tom Baker; and siblings Emily Brahmer in infancy, Russell Brahmer & Faith Schmidt.
