Bartelt, Viviana “Mickey” (Votava) (20 MAY 1928 - 28 APR 2018)

Viviana “Mickey” Bartelt, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Aspirus Care & Rehab, Medford, where she had resided for the past 5 months.

Her funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at 2:30 PM on Thursday, May 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Neillsville. Visitation will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Thursday, May 3.

Mickey was born on May 20, 1928, at Forest River, North Dakota, to James and Albina Josephine (Dvorak) Votava. She attended St. John’s Elementary School, Pisek, ND & Stetsonville elementary schools.

On June 5, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville Mickey was married to Chester D. Bartelt. He preceded her in death July 21, 1970

In 1937, she moved with her family to the Neillsville and Goodrich areas. After her marriage, they resided in the Rockford, IL area where she worked for many years in retail sales for J. C. Penny’s in Machesney Park, IL until her retirement in 1983. In 2012 she moved to Athens to reside near her daughter. She enjoyed crafts, flower gardening, bird watching and puzzles.

Mickey attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford and was a lifelong member of the Loves Park, IL VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Josephine (Marvin) Evatt of Mt. Vernon, MO; Carol (Chuck) Chamberlain of Concrete, WA; Valerie Risch of Athens; Sharon Yuda of Tucson, AZ; Chester Bartelt, Jr. of Brooklyn, WI; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings Anna Faye Aumann of Neillsville & Virginia Zugich of Elkhorn, WI.

Mickey is predeceased by her husband Chester; her parents; a son Mark Bartelt; a granddaughter Loretta Goodman; and siblings Vivian Votava & Jim Votava; sisters Harriet Behr & Veronica Risch.
