Copper, Scotch K. (11 MAY 1899 – 17 MAY 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Rex Copper, 72, were conducted at two o'clock Wednesday, May 19, 1971, at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home. Rev. Hilding Peterson, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Owen, was in charge of the service. Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Burris, Ed Cizek, Henry Gereau Jr., Lloyd Hamel, Alfred Hatlestad, and Russell Westendorf.

Death came to the longtime resident of this community (Withee, Clark Co., Wis.) Monday, May 17, 1971 at the Colonial Home in Colby. She had recently been admitted there, after a long period of hospitalization. At St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield, where she was being treated for cirrhosis of the liver.

The deceased, nee Scotch Kathryn Duff, was born May 11, 1899 in Logan County, Illinois. She was graduated from Mouth Pulaski High School in Logan County, Ill., and for many years taught school after moving to this area, after her marriage to Rex Copper on October 8, 1919. He preceded her in death, passing away August 25, 1969.

For many years she lived in the town of Maplehurst, Taylor County, then moved to the town of Hixon, and in recent years was a resident of Withee. She was an extremely active woman, pursuing many vocations. She was active in the Owen Chapter of the Eastern Star Lodge, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her passing is mourned by three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Mary Kathryn) Jensen, Withee; Mrs. Galen (Maurine Stewart, Dike, Iowa; and Mrs. Ted (Dorothy) Klabon, Withee; two sisters, Mrs. E.O. (Helen) Weckel of Rapids City, Ill., and Mrs. W.W. (Edith) Armstrong, Beacon, Ill.; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
