Betz, Dinah L. “Fred” (25 JAN 1953 - 28 MAR 2018)

Dinah L. “Fred” Betz age 65, of Colby, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at her residence in Colby.

Per her request no services will be held.

Dinah was born on January 25, 1953, the daughter of Donald Jack and Anna Lee (Mitchell) Betz in Fort Wayne, IN. She attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis on human services.

Dinah “Fred” Betz has passed on to her next adventure. She is survived by her beloved son Tony Betz. She held many jobs in her lifetime but her favorite of all time was as a substitute teacher and mother.

Dinah worked in institutional cafeterias, did security work and many other trades before she became the proprietor of A’ Tony’s Pizza & Pasta in Colby. Her biggest passion was teaching. She was a substitute teacher, although that is not what she had originally set out her degree to do, but she fell in love with it. She related to all of the kids, but mostly enjoyed helping the kids that hadn’t quite found their place in the world yet.

Her most important thing in life was her son, Tony. He was her everything. She was so proud of the man he has become and enjoyed watching him grow. A love like no other, a bond between a mother and her son. Dinah loved connecting with people, especially chatting online and proof reading for authors that she met online. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flower beds and reading. She loved cooking both professionally and at home, thrift shopping and traveling when she could. Lavender was her favorite scent, but she loved the smell of sage and the color of purple. Dinah had hoped to settle one day in the mountains in a cabin. She loved the mountains and the feeling of being free. She was loved by so many, her wisdom will continue to touch the souls of us here.

Dinah is survived by her son, Anthony “Tony” M. and his wife, Jessica J. (Luchterhand) Betz of Spencer.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
