DeCaire, Judith “Judy” (Steinbach) (28 SEP 1946 - 19 MAR 2018)

Judith “Judy” DeCaire, 71, of Ishpeming, Mich. passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at her home. She had been in the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Judith was born on Sept. 28, 1946 in Ladysmith, the daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Hink) Steinbach. She was a graduate of the Gilman High School, Class of 1964. Judy married the late Francis DeCaire in 1970 and resided in Ishpeming since that time.

Judy was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she had taught in the CCD program. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening especially flowers, along with attending to her yard in the summer months. Judy was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan. She was most proud of her grandchildren, always enjoying their activities and events.

Judy is survived by her three children, Debbie (Dan) Wertanen of Negaunee, Mich. and Becky (Don) Harju and Beth (Kevin) DeLoughary, all of Ishpeming, Mich.; sister, Donna Giordana of Kaukauna; brother, Greg (Josie) Steinbach of Gilman; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Doug) Perttunen and Karen (Jerry) Tonkin; four grandchildren, Cody (Abigail Burke) Harju, Derek DeCaire, Hannah DeLoughary and Dustin Wertanen; many nieces, nephews, and cousins along with special neighbors, Bill and Jeannie Cox.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis DeCaire on May 23, 2017; and a sister, Rita Braun.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming, Mich. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium. A luncheon will follow the services in the K/D Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Cody, Derek, Dustin and Hannah; and sons-in-law, Dan, Don and Kevin.

Judy's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Hardie and his staff for his years of dedication and care.
