Novak, Deborah J. (Marriage – 2 November 1974)

Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Sobol exchanged marriage vows November 2 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Colby, before Pastor Hasenstein. The bride, the former Miss Deborah J. Novak, was presented in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Novak of Rt. 1 Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sobol, Rt. 3 Thorp, are the groom’s parents.

Yellow roses and baby’s breath accented the bride’s traditional white gown styled with an empire waistline, sheer sleeves and deep, ruffle hemline.

Gowns fashioned of orange flowered print on a yellow background were worn by Sandy Novak of Owen, honor attendant, and by Brenda Ewert of Colby, Carla Gudmanson of Thorp and Cris Koepel of Boyd, bridesmaids. Each carried a single, long-stemmed rose.

Rich Schesel, Thorp, served as bestman. Groomsmen were Randy Schesel, Rod Bogdonovich and John Romanowski. Bill Bauers and Norm Lagenza acted as ushers.

Jan Kryzanski of Thorp and Amy Kovatch of Owen were flower girls.

A reception in the church hall was followed in the evening by a dance at the Curtiss Village Hall.

An Owen-Withee High School graduate, the new Mrs. Sobol is employed as a secretary by a Thorp insurance firm. Her husband, who graduated from Thorp High School, is engaged in farming.
