Allar, Eugene J. (9 APR 1925 - 4 FEB 2018)

Eugene J. Allar, age 92, of Wausau, passed away on February 4, 2018, at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz. Eugene spent five weeks in and out of the hospital and rehab center after being admitted because of the flu which also intensified other health issues.

Eugene was born on April 9, 1925, in Abbotsford, to Frank and Florence (Little) Allar. As a young man, Eugene was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in WWII, and received a Purple Heart after being shot while fighting in France. Upon returning home he farmed, built silos and other miscellaneous jobs before beginning work at Packaging Corporation of America. He worked at PCA for 36 years as a truck driver.

Eugene always enjoyed cars and motorcycles, riding trail bikes, snowmobiling, camping and fishing with his grandkids. Family activities were a big part of Eugene’s life and he was always willing to help with anything.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 28 years, Doris, of Wausau, (currently Sun City, Ariz.); and his two children, Judy (Russ) Palmerton, Abbotsford, and Gene (Dawn) Allar, Spencer, his grandchildren, Tami (Jay) Scheibe of Coon Rapids, Minn., Rick (Jeremy Schmidt) Palmerton of Rothschild, Nick (Michelle) Allar of Fairborn, Ohio; his great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lydia Scheibe and Ashley and Madisen Palmerton. Eugene is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ehrnstrom of Lake Bronson, Minn.; and brother, David Allar of Sun City, Ariz.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence; and siblings, Richard, Gilbert, Jerry and Sandy.

A memorial service was held at Christ Community Church in Sun City with Rev. David Mitchell presiding. A local celebration of Eugene’s life and interment will be held at a later date, please call family for information if interested.
