Steen, Kari Ann (Anderson) (17 AUG 1963 - 9 JAN 2018)

Kari Ann Steen, 54, Osseo, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Kari Ann was born Aug. 17, 1963, in Osseo, to Gerald and Karen (Emerson) Anderson. She graduated from Osseo-Fairchild High School, and received her associate’s degree in records management from Chippewa Valley Technical College. Following school, she worked for the Ho-Chunk Nation and United Bank.

Kari Ann married Jason Steen July 28, 1990, at the United Church of Christ in Osseo. Together, they owned and operated Steen Construction in Osseo.

Kari Ann was active in her church and community. She directed the church choir, served on the Osseo EMS and the Osseo Rural Fire Department for many years.

She was not a person to say no; if someone needed a helping hand or the community needed assistance with a project she was always willing to help.

She is survived by her husband – Jason; daughters – Tess, Holcombe, and Shania, Osseo; her mother – Karen LaBelle (LeRoy Danielson), Osseo; sister – Diane (Gary) Olson, Apache Junction, Ariz.; brothers – Gary (Lynne) Anderson, Osseo, and Randy (Grace) Anderson, Black River Falls; her siblings from the LaBelle family – Kathy (John) Schumacher, Sandra (Ronald) Olson, Karen Livingston, Melody (Kent) Dodge, Jeff (Tamara) LaBelle and Tammy (Pat) Pettis.

She was preceded in death by her father – Gerald Anderson; stepfather – Verne LaBelle; and her brother – Jeff Anderson.

A memorial service for Kari Ann was 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Osseo. Friends called from noon-3 p.m., at the church Friday.

Kari Ann’s wishes were that memorials be directed to a fund to be split between the Osseo EMS, Osseo Rural Fire Department or the United Church of Christ Choir.

Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo is assisting the family.
