Krizan, Andrew “Andy” (16 FEB 1924 - 11 SEP 2016)

Andrew Krizan, 92, formerly of rural Sheldon, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, under the care of Heartland Hospice in Bloomer.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1924 at home in the town of Pershing to the late John and Anna (Stanko) Krizan. Andy grew up in the Donald area and fought for his country in the Army during WWII. He returned home, worked in Ely Minnesota for a time.

On June 11, 1949 he married Helen Knutson. The couple settled on a farm on Highway H, south of Sheldon where they farmed, raised their seven children and eventually retired after 49 years. Andy was a longtime and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheldon and the Sheldon American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; his children, Sharon (Herman) Viegas of Bloomington, Minn., Sandy (Neil) Marthaler of Athens, Ken (Terri) Krizan of Portage, Dennis (Beverly) Krizan of Cottage Grove, Mark (Lynn) Krizan of Oregon, Diane Krizan of Chicago and Judy (Dennis) Ewer of Eau Claire; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Dan (Bev) Krizan of Sheldon and Tom Krizan of Madison; and sister, Nell Randle of Winter Springs, Fla.

Andy is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Marissa Ewer; grandson, Maddox Krizan; his sisters, Ann Pynnonen, Mary Mau, Sue Pynnonen, and Ruth Horak; and brothers, John, Mike and Paul Krizan.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheldon with Pastor Aric Fenske officiating. Burial will follow in the Donald Cemetery with military rites by the Sheldon American Legion.
