Chaltry, Susan Marie (Marriage – 7 September 1974)

Marriage vows were exchanged Saturday, September 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, by Miss Susan Marie Chaltry and David Dean Olson. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Chaltry, Neillsville, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oluff (Mike) Olson, Merrillan.

The Neillsville Country Club was the setting later for a reception honoring the couple.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a long-sleeved, high neckline gown of imported organza embellished by Alencon lace and highlighted by a flounce accenting the illusion of the fitted bodice and bordering the hemline of the A-line styling. A Madonna mantilla of sheer bridal illusion bordered by lace swept into a chapel train. A cascade of red roses completed her ensemble.

Patty Hemp, Eau Claire, was the maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Teresa Kufalk, Schofield, and Sandy Volz, and Lisa Chaltry, Neillsville. Their empire-waist gowns were fashioned of a brocaded floral print in shades of blue, yellow, lime green, and apricot, respectively. Each carried a nosegay of white baby roses, and carnations tinted to match the color of her dress.

The groom’s attendants included Mike Olson, River Falls, as bestman, and David Kufalk, Schofield, Robert Ellingson, Black River Falls, and Micky Peterson, Hatfield, as groomsmen. Guests were seated by Matt Hemp, Neillsville, and usherette Leslie Sazoba, Hatfield.

Marilyn Watenpuhl sang “I Believe,” Wedding Song,” and “Our Father.”

The bride was honored at prenuptial showers given by Cheryl Hohenstein, and Mrs. Harry Fisher.

The new Mrs. Olson is a 1974 graduate of Neillsville High School, and of the Eau Claire Technical institute’s nursing assistant course. Her husband, a 1970 graduate of Black River Falls Senior High School is engaged in dairy farming. They are living on Garage Rd., Rt. 1, Merrillan.

A wedding trip is planned for a later date.
