Richard John “Richie” Lobacz, 72, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Greenwood.

Richard was born on March 27, 1945, in Stanley, to John and Marion (nee Turenne) Lobacz. He grew up on the family farm in Withee and graduated from Owen-Withee High School. After graduation he went into the U.S. Army, serving in Germany for two years. In 1973 he married Esther Henaman in Thorp. After the Army he worked for a number of years at Lato Construction and Barr’s Animal Foods. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known to everyone as a hard worker who loved home-cooked meals. In 2013 he sustained injuries in a car wreck and never fully recovered.

Richard is survived by his wife, Esther; two children, Simone (David Hodgdon) Lobacz and Tommy (Karen Koltz) Lobacz; a grandson, Dominic Lobacz; and his brothers: Raymond (Lynda) Lobacz, Kenny (Linda) Lobacz, Edward (Mary) Lobacz, and Karl (Pam) Lobacz.
