Lew, Dianne (1 AUG 1970)

St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, was the scene for the wedding ceremony of Miss Dianne Lew and Leon B. Burkhardt on Saturday, August 1, 1970. Father Alphonse Zoltowski performed the one p.m. double ring ceremony. Organist was Miss April Scholbrock and soloist was Harold VanDen Heuvel.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lew of Gilman and Mrs. Dolores Burkhardt of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length empire styled bridal gown of Peau d' Ange lace and organza, featuring bishop sleeves and a mandarin neckline. Lace bordered the A-line styled skirt highlighted by a sweeping chapel train. Her bouffant veil of sheer bridal illusion secured an edged cluster of lace petals accented with crystal. She carried a bouquet of red roses and miniature white carnations.

Julie Burkhardt, sister of the groom, was maid of honor; and bridesmaids were: Debbie Maier, cousin of the bride, Gabrielle Reyzer, friend of the bride. They wore floor length mock coat dresses of chiffon in maize and lime. Multi-colored Venice lace accented the bishop sleeves and the empire waistline. Harmonizing veils secured a forward cluster of petals outline with pearls.

They carried bouquets of white pompoms and green and yellow carnations.

Miss Annalee Lew and Miss Arlene Lew, cousin and sister of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. Rita Schumacher, a niece of the groom, was flower girl, and Gary Lew, brother of the bride, was ring bearer.

Richard Lesniewski, friend of the groom, was best man, and groomsmen were: John Possley, friend of the groom, and Stanley Lew, cousin of the bride. Ushers were: Henry Lew, brother of the bride, and Ronald Benzschawel, cousin of the groom.

A supper and reception for 500 guests was held at St. Hedwig's Hall, Thorp, where a dance followed with music by Mike and his Polka Trio.

The bride is a graduate of Gilman High School and is employed by Lee's Printing Post, Thorp. The groom is a greaduate of Thorp High School and is employed as a farmer by Henry Lew.

After a wedding trip to Minocqua, Wisconsin, they will reside at route 2, Gilman.
