Dan was born June 15, 1960 in Patuxent River, Maryland, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Bennor) Sorensen. Dan grew up in a military family which meant relocating often. After Thomas retired they moved back to their hometown of Bruce, WI. Dan later continued his education at a technical college.

He was married to Debra Shelton in 1980 and to this union four children were born. They later divorced. Dan joined the Army in 1981 and faithfully served his country while being stationed in Germany until his service ended in 1986. On January 30, 1999, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Groth and to this union there were three more children. She survives. Dan was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Land O Lakes in Spencer.

Dan was an avid sportsman who loved his hunting and fishing. He was a dependable friend and neighbor who never said “no” to anyone needing help. He enjoyed camping in the truest form of “roughing it”, playing cribbage with family and friends or watching Formula One racing.

Survivors include his wife Becky Sorensen of Greenwood, his children: Miranda Sorensen of Chippewa Falls, Carrie (Greg) Somerville of Campbellsport, James (fiancee Brenda) Sorensen of Fall Creek, Kristina Sorensen of Chippewa Falls, Talon (significant other Rachel) Huff of Marshfield, Jared (significant other Shannon) Huff of Green Bay and Brady Sorensen of Greenwood; his grandchildren: Casey, Taylor, Jordan, Brett, Hayleigh, Nathan, Baylee, Eli, and Alyson; one brother Keith (Tricia) Sorensen of Boyceville; two sisters: Lorna (Dean) Meyer of Bruce and Elissa (David) Sullivan of Belvidere IL along with nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, co-workers and many friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons Riley and Jayson and a brother David Cichy.

If desired, memorials in Dan’s name are being accepted by his family for a charity to be determined.

His arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
