Red Eagle, Shane (19 July 1972 – 17 September 2017)

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and light up a smoke, as we tell you about what an amazing person Shane Red Eagle, affectionately known to many as “pooh,” brightened this world. Shane walked on Sept. 17, 2017, at his home in Dells Dam, rural Neillsville, of a fatal cardiac arrest.

Shane was known for his easy-going nature, kind and generous spirit, and infectious sense of humor. Shane loved gardening, throwing sticks for his dog Lil’ Bit, running a cathouse, and counting his chickens, after they hatched. For most of his adult life on any given weekend, he could be found attending a concert, show, or dance. He was an avid music lover.

Shane was a gifted and talented artist. He excelled at horseshoes, pool, darts, video games. And chess. He was a Grand Master Tekken player, and Farmville Kingpin. He was always checking on people’s crops and showing no mercy to any that challenged Hworang’s flamboyant kicks.

He spent countless hours driving his War Pony around rescuing motorist in distress, giving thrill rides through the woods, and working on paths that never went anywhere.

Shane was an exceptional drone pilot and loved movies – both good and bad. As he would say, “You know I ain’t picky.” Shane was a proud member of the Ho-Chunk Nation.

It was a privilege to know Shane. He was always willing to back you up with whatever, whenever you needed it. He was loyal to all that called him a friend and brother. All of his family and friends will sorely miss his easy smile, contagious laughter, and his captivating stories. If you were ever teased by Shane, count yourself fortunate.

No one better knew how to get “comfy” and enjoy the simple rewards in life. Yes, Sir.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Ho-Chunk Dells Dam Community Center, W7015 Bush Rd., Neillsville, WI. Funeral services for Shane were held at 12 p.m. Sept. 19. Burial was made on the homestead.

Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
