Durst, Frances (23 MAY 1904 – 7 OCT 2000)

Frances C. Durst, age 96, of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), died Friday, October 7, 2000 at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Frances was born on May 23, 1904, the daughter of Charles and Hilda (Marg) Poppe. She was united in marriage to Arno A. Durst on July 2, 1934. After their marriage, they farmed for many years and then moved to Neillsville after retiring in 1982. Arno died on December 10, 1992. Frances was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by a daughter, Annette (Leland) Krause of Granton; two sisters, Clara (Leo) Hemp and Henrietta (Julius Hagedorn, both of Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters, Esther Meihack, Eva Hemp and Sophie Johnson, and a niece, Lorraine Hemp.

Funeral services for Frances will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 11 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Bieber of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist, and Carol Glaze, soloist. Interment will be in the Neillsville cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Casket bearers are: Leland Krause, Ted Stiemke, Charles Hagedorn, Donald Strangfeld, Norman Poppe, Leslie Johnson and Charles Johnson.
