NEILLSVILLE - Clifford S David Karl, 83, Neillsville, died June 2, 2000, at Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Services will be at 11 am. Tuesday at United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 am. until service time Tuesday at the ' church.

He was born Oct. 30,1916, in Ellsworth to Joseph and Agnes (nee Block) Karl. He served in the United States Army from May 1942 until his discharge in September 1945. He served with the 317th anti-aircraft ordinance. He was employed at Nelson Muffler for 32 years until retiring in 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Mancie Karl; two sons, Robert Karl of Neillsville and Wayne Karl of Stoughton; one daughter, Linda Aslakson of New Glarus; one granddaughter, two brothers, Brookes and Arnold (Gladys)
Karl, all of Neillsville; and one sister, Beverly Drescher of Neillsville.

Karl, Clifford David (30 October 1916 – 2 June 2000) with Flag

Clifford Karl, 83, of Neillsville died at 9:45 p.m., Friday, June 2 at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Clifford David was born on October 30, 1916 in Ellsworth, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Block) Karl. They moved to Neillsville in 1920 where he attended Riverside and Silver Crest Schools. Clifford worked on farms prior to entering the service for the U.S. Army in May of 1942, during World War II. He served in the 317th anti-aircraft ordinance and participated in the battles and campaigns of the European, African and middle Eastern Theaters. He was a technical sergeant upon his discharge in September of 1945. Before returning to Neillsville, he worked in factories in Chicago, IL.

On September 3, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mancie Amber Northup in Marshfield. They resided in Neillsville where he worked at Nelson Muffler for 32 years until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mancie Amber; two sons, Robert of Neillsville and Wayne of Stoughton, one daughter, Linda Aslakson of New Glarus; two brothers, Brookes and Arnold (Gladys) Karl both of Neillsville and one sister, Beverly Drescher of Neillsville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Clifford were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 6 at the United Church of Christ, Pastor James Mohr officiated. Music was provided by Eileen Zank, organist and Roland Krueger soloist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery, with Military rites accorded by the Haugen-Richmond Post #73 of Neillsville. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Gesche Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday at the church.

Casket bearers were Fritz Hediger, Ivan Karl, Mylan “Mike” Karl, Russell Karl, Walter Karl and Lloyd Meyer.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Clifford’s family with arrangements.
