Frost, Mr./Mrs. Alfred (Gold – 27 OCT 1969)

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Frost of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 17, 1969. A special Communion service on Saturday was attended by the family anf guests, and at noon there was an anniversary dinner, the remainder of the day being spent socially.

On Sunday, open house was held from 2 to 5 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, and in the morning the couple's brother-in-law, the Rev. Edwin Hansen of Muskegon, Mich., conducted a service. Mrs. Frost had an orchid corsage and her husband a white carnation boutonniere. They received many gifts.

Alfred Frost and Clara Knutsen were married by the Rev. V.S. Jensen of Omaha, Neb., at Omaha, October 27, 1919.

Mr. Frost, son of Peter and Ann Frost, was born at Withee January 24, 1894, and was educated at Withee and Grand View College, Des Moines, Iowa. He is a veteran of World War I and is affiliated with Nazareth Lutheran Church. He is president of the Village of Withee at the present time, and has been on the Village Board for several years. He enjoys good health and his hobbies are gardening and flowers.

His wife, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Knutsen, was born in Omaha, Neb., October 5, 1894, and was educated there and also at Grad View College. Before her marriage she clerked in her brother's store. She is affiliated with Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Omaha. Mrs. Frost, whose health is fair, lists her hobbies as sewing, reading, flowers, cooking and knitting.

Following their marriage, the Forsts farmed until they retired to the village of Withee and build a home in 1958.

Their three children are Mrs. William (Sylvia) Fisher, Minneapolis, Minn.; Vernon, Middleburg, Va., and Kenneth, Sparta. There are six grandchildren dn three great-grandchildren.

Hy Knutsen of Omaha, who gave the bride, his sister, in marriage in the 1919 ceremony in place of her father, was present for the festivities, along with his daughter, who was a flower girl then. Her twin brothers, attendants in the original ceremony, also were present. A total of 42 relatives came from out of town.

Displayed at the anniversary event was a booklet, "Our Golden Wedding," which included pictures taken through the years. A gift from the Nazareth congregation was a gold cross on a plaque, inscribed with "1969." Mrs. Frost has been active in church work, the Grey Lady group, and was a special cook for many banquets served at Nazareth Lutheran Church and other places until fracturing her hip five years ago.
